RETREATS-AUSTRALIA-Solitude

Slide Show Of Solitude

The main base for our retreats in Australia is Solitude. A rainforest retreat set on 160 acres in the Numinbah Valley behind the Gold Coast. It is a place where nature envelops you, where you cannot but feel connected to a deeper sense of calm.

Solitude is a magnificent hideaway nestled in a deep valley amongst some of Australians little remaining virgin rainforest. It is only 4 kilometres away from Natural Arch, one of South East Queensland’s natural wonders. Being only 4 kilometres from the NSW border one has easy access to Byron Bay and many of the stunning surroundings of that region.

The retreat is run by Marga, an artist, whose work surrounds the main hall. She is also the chief cook and makes the most delicious cuisines sourced from local produce. When people ask “Marga how do you make something so good for you so tasty?” she will usually reply that it is her secret ingredient........love!

There are many places to explore.... waterfalls, lush plant life, wallabies are often seen bouncing by......and there is even a Labyrinth. The walks down to the main creek and watering holes are always a treat, an adventure exploring natures bountiful wonders and perhaps parts of yourself that have been neglected too often.

Byron Bay is hard to beat in the world of coastal destinations. There are kilometeres of white sandy beaches as well as secluded coves. All within walking distance of the stylish and intriguing village of Byron Bay itself.

There are no McDonalds or Kentucky Fried Chicken. infact there are no chain stores of any descriptions, they are not allowed. All the shops within the Byron village precinct are boutique, one of a kind. Whether you want the lastest in surf wear fashion, some esoteric books or some locally made jewllery, you are definately in for a treat. Or perhaps you prefer to relax with some organic food and coffee, there is no shortage of interesting, healthy places to eat.

Whatever takes your preference, as you stroll through the village there is an unmistakable energy running through the place. It's a freedom from routine experiences, as if the place beckons you to look at everything differently. You will see this reflected in the local characters to be seen, the street buskers and the ambience of the surrounding hills rolling down onto the coast line.

Byron Bay is only 1 hours drive from solitude. For retreats 5 days or longer we will often include day trips into the village.
